Hill College’s Vocational Nursing Program Coordinator selected to participate in development panel for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensure

Janis GrimlandDirector and Program Coordinator for the Vocational Nursing Program Janis Grimland recently participated in a development panel for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensure Examination (NCLEX®).

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) recruits qualified nurses to serve on examination development panels, including writing and review panels. The volunteers selected for this process are an integral part of the examination development for the NCLEX®.

Grimland has been a nurse for 42 years and has served on the instructional staff of the nursing program at Hill College for over 28 yearsShe is currently the Director and Program Coordinator for the Vocational Nursing Program. She was approved by the Texas Board of Nursing and selected by the NCSBN to participate in the panel. Grimland was chosen based on her clinical specialty and nursing expertise.

“I was very honored to be able to work on item development for the NCLEX development panel. I learned a great deal about the entire process and appreciate the opportunity to be able to participate. I also was able to network with other professionals in the area as well as those from several other states,” said Grimland.

The Nursing Program at Hill College offers accredited programs for licensed vocational nursing (LVN) as well as an associate degree in nursing (ADN). Both programs offer degree paths with quality, one-on-one training, as well as a solid foundation for students looking to continue their education at a four-year institution.

This honor is amazing for her and our program at Hill College, recognizing her clinical specialty and nursing expertise. Janis is invaluable to the college and our students and her participation in this work is a testament to her excellence and dedication to her profession and education,” said Vice President of Student Learning & Success Irene Accomando.
